Overview

Copilot makes it it easy to share relational databases with your clients using Airtable directly within your portal. You can embed an entire Base, or share only a specific View. You can share the basic grid view, use a kanban view to share project status, a gallery view to share images, and more.

App setup

1. Go to App Setup, and click + Add an app in the top right corner.

2. Click Add under Airtable. Set a title and icon that represents the app.

3. We recommend setting this up as a manual app so that you can embed different data for each client. If you want this app to be visible to all clients, set this as an automatic app.

4. Next, click Add. You will be taken to to the app's page, where you can set the embed for each client, group, or company.

5. Click Add to add your first embed or link. Select the client(s) or company to share the app with.

6. Select Show as embed so that the client isn't directed outside of the portal.

7. Next, go to the Base or Table you want to share in your Airtable account.

8. To embed an entire base, click Share in the top right corner. Under Base, click Share Publicly and click the link to copy it.

9. To embed a specific view, click Share in the top right corner. Under View, select the view you want to share from the drop-down menu, then click the link to copy it.

10. Go back to the app page in Copilot, paste the copied link into the content box, and click Save.

To preview the app as a client, connect the app to your test client. Then, click Portal at the bottom of the sidebar and click Open portal. Once you're logged in as your test client you'll be able to view the connected app.

Note: Airtable only allows view-only embeds - this is because Airtable's pricing model only allows collaboration between paid users.
