These preferences and images will automatically be used in various places, including your portal sidebar, portal log in screen, client email notifications, invoices, and more

Set up basic customizations

  1. Navigate to the Customization page.

  2. Set your brand name.

  3. Upload your image assets, including a square icon, full icon, and login image.

  4. Set your brand colors, including a sidebar background color, sidebar text color, and accent color.

  5. Customize your font.

App setup

On the App Setup page you can configure the apps that are enabled, add new ones, and remove ones you don't need. For Client Apps, you can rearrange the order of apps and this will update how they show to clients on the portal sidebar. The app that you move to the top will be the default home page for clients. If you click the Edit button you can:

  • Specify the app name.

  • Specify the app icon.

  • Disable or delete the app.

  • Set other preferences that are app-specific. For example, on the Billing App you can customize the payment methods clients are allowed to use.

To add a new app click on Add an app. Here you can set up apps made by Copilot, made by partners, and create a Custom App.

App-specific recommendations

If you use the Messages App, customize your welcome message. Your welcome message is automatically sent to clients the first time they log in. A great welcome message introduces your firm and explains how you want clients to use and navigate the portal.

If you use the Billing App, configure what payments method you want to accept and also whether you want pay for payment processing fees or pass them on to clients.

In addition, consider adding some of our recommended Partner Apps including:

  • Notion for a modern client home page.

  • Calendly for client meeting scheduling.

  • Airtable to communicate client project statuses.

Linking to your portal

On your marketing website, we recommend that you add a Client portal or Log in button that points to your portal. This makes it easy for clients to easily navigate to your portal from your marketing website. To set this up, follow these steps:

  1. Click on Portal in the bottom-left of your sidebar.

  2. Copy the portal URL.

  3. Set up the button on your marketing website navbar and point it to the above URL.

You can also configure a sign up flow so that visitors on your marketing website can self-serve create client accounts.

Inviting your team

You can other internal users on the Settings > Team page. There are two roles for internal users, admin internal users and staff internal users and you can learn more about the differences in the internal user roles article.

Payout account

If you plan to use the Billing App, you need to first connect a payout account. This lets us send money to you when clients pay you. In all transactions Copilot acts as the merchant which means that money first flows to us, and then we immediately send it out to you. You can connect a payout account on the Settings > Payout account page.
